Supreme Commander is a real-time strategy game designed by Chris Taylor and developed by Gas Powered Games.
Supreme Commander takes the best features of Total Annihilation as its starting point. Many people dare to proclaim this game a spiritual successor to Total Annihilation.
Story line: The technology developed by human beings has rapidly advanced and the evolution of new forms of communication and transportation has enabled man, among other things, to travel through the galaxy. This is possible thanks to "Quatum Network", an interstellar transport system capable of opening doors throughout the galaxy. Thus, humanity has traveled for centuries to colonize planets in the universe, developing new technologies and forming new human settlements. As a result, the universe now has three factions which are embroiled in a tireless fight to defend their interests for more than a thousand years. The Unite Earth Federation (UEF), fully human faction, is a confederation formed by survivors of the earth which, after being shattered by wars, eventually become an uninhabitable place.
The crossbreeding between a human and alien race gave rise to the second civilization, the Aeons. The third civilization is the nation cybran, which consists of hybridization between humans and technology gained through an experiment conducted by Dr. Brackman Gustaf on earth. The player will play the part of one of three factions, all with a human origin, but with very different interests. Each side of the conflict has its own context and its history very well explained in the manual of the game.
What comes to visualization, Supreme Commander features an outstanding finish. Gas Powered Games has developed an impressive graphics engine that is perfectly adapted to the proposed gameplay.
Music and effects: Real epic, calm and full of action melodies, which fall on stage depending on how the action is taking place to give perfect support to the course of the action.
In short, Supreme Commander is a game that no fan of the genre should miss. It has a superb technical section, which joined to its revolutionary gameplay and its long duration makes it a new standard within the genre of real-time strategy, and a serious candidate to be among the best games.
